Multi-Level Backyard Patio with Fire Pit in Lorne Park
Tiered patio design featuring Techo-Bloc Blu 60mm pavers with a built-in natural gas fire pit, curved seating wall, and privacy screen plantings in a Lorne Park backyard.
We designed a two-tier patio system stepping down from the rear sliding doors. The upper tier serves as the dining area with direct kitchen access, while the lower tier features a circular natural gas fire pit surrounded by a curved Techo-Bloc Mini-Creta seating wall. The 6-inch elevation change between levels is handled with a natural stone step band that visually separates the two zones. We selected Techo-Bloc Blu 60mm pavers in Champlain Grey for their contemporary texture and slip resistance.
Along the south and west property lines, we installed a privacy screening of columnar cedars backed by ornamental grasses, creating a sheltered atmosphere without blocking afternoon sunlight. The fire pit runs on a dedicated natural gas line, eliminating the need for propane tanks. Low-voltage LED step lights illuminate the transition between levels for safe evening use.

How We Delivered This Project
Design Consultation
We visited the Lorne Park property to assess the existing conditions, take precise measurements, discuss material preferences, and present a detailed proposal with 3D renderings.
Excavation & Base Preparation
Excavated to the required depth for Mississauga's frost conditions and installed a compacted Granular A base with geotextile fabric separation over the local clay subsoil.
Paver Installation & Pattern Layout
Each paver was placed by hand following the approved pattern layout, with edge restraints, border courses, and all cuts made with diamond-blade saws for precision.
Jointing, Sealing & Handover
Polymeric sand was swept into all joints, the surface was compacted a final time, and sealant was applied. We provided care instructions and warranty documentation.
