Terraced Retaining Wall System in Meadowvale
Three-tier engineered retaining wall system addressing a 6-foot grade change in a Meadowvale backyard. Constructed with Permacon Ridgefield wall units and integrated planting terraces.
We designed a three-tier retaining wall system using Permacon Ridgefield wall units in Sierra Grey. Each wall stands approximately 2 feet in exposed height, with planted terraces between levels that soften the visual impact and add garden interest. The walls are engineered with geogrid reinforcement, compacted granular backfill, and a perforated drain pipe behind each tier that connects to a discharge point at the lower yard. This drainage system ensures hydrostatic pressure never builds behind the wall face.
The completed system transformed the steep slope into three usable terrace levels planted with drought-tolerant perennials and ornamental grasses suited to the clay soil conditions. The lower yard is now fully accessible via integrated natural stone steps connecting each terrace level.
